Chopin. Romantic salon

Royal Castle in Warsaw, Warsaw, Poland, 2021

Presented at the Royal Castle in Warsaw in the lead-up to the eighteenth International Chopin Piano Competition, the exhibition considered the salon as a place of musical, artistic and social exchange in the nineteenth century.

Manuscript scores, portraits, the composer's death mask and other objects from Poland, France and Spain traced Chopin's place within this milieu. Henryk Siemiradzki's painting Chopin in the Salon of Prince Antoni Radziwiłł in 1829 formed the central exhibit, on loan from John Radziwiłł's private collection in New York. The exhibition was accompanied by piano recitals, including a performance by Szymon Nehring.
